She worked for Merkel Furniture Store for many years, beginning when it was a hardware store, but many would remember her as an interior designer. After retiring from the University of Michigan, she finished her working career at the Chelsea Dollar Store. The donations will be used for a memorial and to establish a scholarship fund administered by the Dexter Rotary. She had lived in the Stockbridge area since she was three years old. She was a wonderful baker, baking bread and making specialty cakes for graduation and weddings.
Besides being an accomplished musician and educator, Char was also simply a kind and dedicated servant of the Lord. She used her incredible gifts of organization and hospitality to welcome countless people from around the world to her family’s home and table; she was passionate about sharing the Gospel and showing God’s love.
